The UK's Care Crisis Worsens
Published: 7th Jun 18
The majority of us already know this, but a recent survey ,carried out by Care and Support Alliance, states that the Adult Care System is now 'visibly failing'.

Nearly 4000 people who have had experience of adult social care in the UK have had their say on their experiences and it makes for worrying reading.  1.2 million older and disabled people are currently unable to get the care they need - a number which has almost doubled since 2010.

Despite  more people needing care, numbers of those who have access to even basic levels of care continue to drop and the available funding follows suit. We are looking at an estimated funding gap of £2.5 billion by 2019/20.

Caroline Abrahams, Charity Director at Age Concern, finds it worrying to hear people's stories stating their provision of care has been cut despite their condition either remaining the same or, in most cases, worsening.  Are we, the taxpayers, or even the government saving out of this? Not at ill, the additional stresses and costs are simply being "shifted" onto the already stretched NHS due to people falling into ill health and crisis due to the lack of sufficient care.

In light of the findings the CSA is calling on people to add their signatures to an open letter to Jermey Hunt, Secretary of State of Health and Social Care, to highlight the desperate requirement for change.  Funding must be provided now with a plan of action put in place to get the adult social care of this country back on track.
