Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, 89 year young Flo Osbourne has been baking pies in her small, sheltered accommodation kitchenette in Dovercourt, and distributing them to the elderly and vulnerable residents in her community.

Despite, arguably, being of an age to receive meals on wheels herself, Flo has flipped the concept on its head and has been putting the skills she originally learned from her mother to good use for others, by baking hundreds of sweet and savoury pies to be distributed through her local hot meals service in Harwich.
Even more amazingly, Flo’s son Graham says she has made each element of her generous contributions from scratch, “I’ve been brought up on her pies. To watch her make them is unreal…they’re perfect,” he said.
Flo certainly knows how to ‘bake’ her local community happy!
