Trainers' tips - design your own hospital red bag with report packs

CMS makes it easy for you to design your own red bag

When a resident becomes unwell and is assessed as needing hospital care, care home staff pack a dedicated red bag that includes the resident’s record of care and their medication, as well as day-of-discharge clothes and other personal items.

CMS makes it easy for you to design your own red bag to provide the paper work necessary to be sent to the hospital with your resident. This can be done through the Report Packs, which allow you to create templates for common sets of reports.

Step 1

Click the printer icon on top right hand corner of your screen.

Select pack admin to create a new pack.

Step 2

N.B. When the screen is grey you are editing templates.

Click new and select report pack. type the name of your new your pack e.g. hospital.

Finally, select the reports you would like to add to this pack and click Save.

Now, when a resident is admitted in hospital, simply click on the printer icon and select your ‘Hospital’ pack and click print to send the report to the printer, or preview to create a PDF file which can be emailed.
